Our Southern Black Foodie Tour took us on a mini road trip from Miami to Savannah stopping in Orlando along the way. Unless you’re a local or you know someone who lives there, finding Black owned spaces can be challenging in Orlando. With so many attractions and eateries to choose from, it’s easy for Black…
If you find yourself in Kansas City, MO for whatever reason and your mouth is craving soul food, head straight to Peachtree Buffet, located at 6800 Eastwood Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64129! I am not a fan of buffets by any means, so when I initially heard about the place, I was a bit skeptical.…

As of March 8, 2020, my best brunch spot in Broward County is Just Spoon’s Café, located at SW 78th Ave, Plantation, FL 33324! Reminiscent of a soulful speakeasy, this space with an appealing New York café charm, churns out delectable southern inspired entrees that are both enjoyable and memorable. Regulars at this, grits-forward, breakfast-all-day…

The Hungry Black Man celebrates almost four years of covering the national Black and minority culinary ecosystem with an emphasis on South Florida. We have come across some amazing and delicious spaces that were both memorable and palate pleasing, however, my hometown of Miami has experienced a true renaissance in both culinary sophistication and cultural…
For years, I’ve satisfied my doughnut cravings at the delicious and efficient Mojo Doughnuts. Located a couple miles outside of Miami, Mojo resembles the critically acclaimed Voodoo Doughnuts—before the hype. I live walking distance from a Krispy Kreme Factory, but I prefer taking the 30-minute drive to Mojo instead of subjecting myself to the over…
Growing up in South Florida, particularly Miami, we are spared much of the overt racial animus and painful reminders of our nation’s racist past – unlike many of our southern (but geographically northern) neighbors. From police officers attacking and killing our people, to a couple of ridiculous Kansas City residents campaigning and celebrating the blockage…
