Have you visited Jacksonville lately? There seems to be a culinary renaissance underway, but it’s sluggish and can’t get all the gears in place to truly get rolling. Thankfully some chefs have planted themselves in the city, busily trying to put the city’s culinary ecosystem on the map. One of whom is former Top Chef…
In a city where Black Americans are only 15 percent of the population, you wouldn’t expect it to have one of the oldest and best soul food restaurants in the country. My awful time in Oklahoma City was made far better by visiting Florence’s Restaurant, which has been serving up amazing farm to table style…
If you have never been to Chicago, my heart goes out to you. This city is one of the culinary meccas of the United States, if not the world, with a collection of old-world flavors interpreted by young and innovative chefs, cooks, and culinarians. Chi-town’s take on one of America’s staple junk food classics, the…
Our Hungry Black Man Media team took a quick detour from our Chicago Foodie tour to check out Indianapolis after literally stumbling on The Missing Brick, a cool pizzeria with a unique concept – the pizzas are all co-created using ingredients from surrounding restaurants. What a great decision that turned out to be. The Missing…
Cleo’s Southern Cuisine in the Bronzeville area of Chicago is delicious. That is all. That’s my review. Naw, I’m just kidding. Some of our followers highly recommended we visit this tiny, beautifully decorated take-out spot and am I glad we did! Not only is it delicious, but it also has a beautiful queen who is…

Many chefs, cooks, and restaurateurs tout their burgers as the best or offer it as a default menu item for the indecisive, but most…
The folks at the Capital Grille have new competition! When you walk through the entrance of The Park Supper Club, a newly opened Chicago restaurant by culinary veterans MaryAnn and Reginal Marsh of M lounge, you can’t help marveling at the nostalgic black and white photos of jazz greats. You’ll also be able to…
Before I tell you about some of the best ice-cream I’ve ever tasted, let me give you a little historical perspective that can help you appreciate it even more. Ice cream has been in the Black American culinary cannon since 1832, when Mr. Augustus Jackson, a Black American pastry chef and confectioner pioneered an innovative…
You’d expect to find an eatery like Blvd Baes, with its open kitchen, tiny indoor seating and intimate outdoor dining in a small French countryside bed and breakfast. Thankfully, it’s located in Miami at 7244 Biscayne Boulevard. My friend Felecia told me about this amazing restaurant and their fire kissed Calabaza. You already know my…
