The Hungry Black Man recently explored Montgomery’s vibrant Black Food Scene, and we can confidently affirm that Montgomery stands as the undisputed champion of Black culinary excellence in the entire state. During our visit, we had the pleasure of sampling the delectable offerings at TRINA’S SEAFOOD AND MORE, conveniently situated at 3400 McGehee Rd, Montgomery, AL 36111.
One remarkable creation at Trina’s Seafood and More caught our attention: a colossal salad that we affectionately refer to as the “Black People Salad.” These salads are distinguished by their generous portions of protein, featuring succulent chicken and seafood, generously adorned with cheese, croutons, and an array of delightful toppings. Trina’s Seafood and More may very well claim the title for serving the ultimate Black People salad.
This behemoth salad boasted exquisitely seasoned shrimp and chicken, elevated by a medley of peppers and pickles that contributed a delightful tanginess to the dish, a touch we found particularly praiseworthy. Additionally, the bacon added the perfect amount salt activating the overall flavor of the salad, alongside the perfectly boiled eggs, shredded cheese, and fried onions. If we may offer a suggestion, we propose that the establishment consider offering a more nutrient-rich lettuce variety, such as romaine, in place of the current iceberg lettuce, whose watery taste might not be to everyone’s liking.
Additionally, we recommend that Trina’s explore the creation of their own signature salad dressings. While they presently provide a selection of dressings from pre-packaged sources, such as Newman’s Own, the extraordinary flavors of their salad warrant a dressing of equal distinction and homemade artistry.
Moving on to another culinary triumph, the seafood egg rolls presented by Trina’s were nothing short of outstanding. However, what truly left an indelible impression was their artisanally crafted butter sauce, a concoction so delectable that one might be tempted to savor it by the spoonful if it weren’t for its calorie density. It was that exceptional! Oh, and the fried fish is a whole culinary revelation. The flavor was outrageously delicious. The chicken wings were tasty, but nothing that truly stood out.
Trina’s Seafood and More offers a comprehensive and satisfying dining experience, making it a must-visit for any traveler in the city. Their swift and courteous service further characterizes this delightful culinary adventure. If you find yourself in Montgomery, we wholeheartedly encourage you to experience the culinary wonders at Trina’s. Your taste buds will thank you. Call them at (334) 409-4233.
Sounds like a feast. I would take half of it and add romaine to it at home for the next day. Those egg rolls look really good. I need to make a trip from the D to Bama soon.
