Giant Glaze Twist
Fresh Pharaohs Donuts Cooling
Which food item brings a smile to most faces just by thinking of it? That would be a freshly fried donut! I’ve experienced several amazing Black owned donut brands throughout the nation and one of my absolute favorites is Pharaoh Donuts located at 202 N 9th St, St. Louis, MO 63101.

The shop is the vision and mission of owner, Amon Aziz, and his amazing daughter and manager Mrs. Syeeda Aziz-Morris, who allowed me to observe the process from start to finish. What makes the donuts so delicious is the time and dedication their team spends perfecting the flavor and texture.
Donuts being cut out
Every single donut in the shop is hand rolled and watching them shape donuts after creating the complicated dough produced nothing short of excellence. With a light and airy interior, a golden, fried exterior, and a sweet vanilla glaze, Pharaoh’s classic glazed donuts (my favorite) prove that homemade donuts are worth the effort!

I’m also very partial to the raspberry filled donut, which is one of several flavors available at this jewel of a shop. You can also indulge in glazed twists, buttermilk cake, blueberry cake, vanilla- and chocolate-iced long johns, vanilla and chocolate cake, strawberry-jelly filled Bismarcks, cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, custard- and lemon-filled donuts, and donut holes.
Assorted donut flavors at Pharaoh
I also heard they are offering food and even a donut burger! This spot is truly a hidden gem that I visit each time I’m in St. Louis, The Gateway to the West! You can call them at (314) 351-0285.
